In Parallax, you can copy a Service Offering, but you cannot directly move or transfer a Service Offering that already has timesheet hours logged on it to a different project. Once time is tracked, that Service Offering becomes tied to that project for reporting, forecasting, and historical accuracy.

That said, there is a clean workflow to accomplish what you need depending on whether you’re trying to move the plan or the actual hours.

This is the standard approach when you want the same roles/budget set up somewhere else.

Note: The new deal (Project) should be created in your CRM first and then follow the steps to copy a service offering from Project A to the new Project B to allow tracking back to the client in the CRM.  If you wish, you can also simply create a New Project directly in Active Projects page and by-pass the CRM as well.

Steps to Copy a Service Offering to a New Project

  1. Go to the original Project

    • Navigate to the Projects

    • Open the project that contains the Service Offering you want to replicate

  2. Select the Service Offering you want to copy (it must be active)

    • Click the specific offering title header tied to the work you want duplicated

  3. Use the “Copy” option

    • In the Service Offering actions menu (three dots), choose:
      Copy Service Offering

  • If there is an active timesheet with actuals on the service offering, you need to disconnect that timesheet first.

4. Choose the destination project

  • Select the new project you want the offering copied into

Confirm what should carry over
Parallax will typically copy:

  • Offering name

  • Roles + planned hours

  • Budget structure

  • Dates (sometimes editable)

5. Review the new (transferred) Service Offering

  • The offering now exists in the new project, ready for planning and tracking going forward

If timesheet hours already exist: what happens?

Here’s the key limitation:

Parallax does not allow you to “move” actuals across projects automatically because that would change:

  • Utilization reporting

  • Revenue recognition

  • Forecast vs actual history

  • Project financials

So copying the offering will only move the plan, not the historical time.

Logged time stays with the original project/offering so you need to disconnect the original timesheet from the original service offering project and reconnect to the project where you moved the service offering to.

Once you have disconnected and reconnected the time sheet to the new project where you moved the service offering to, you can then go back and delete/remove the former service offering on the original project.
