Overview 

Who can do what within Parallax and why?  This is an important question and the answer to this can be found in Permissions.  Permissions can be applied to users to limit access and visibility to pages, actions, and data points within Parallax, to make sure everyone has the right access.

Managing Permissions

In this section, we'll break down the nuts and bolts of how to actually do things like give or take Permissions.

What are Permissions?

Permissions are set up and customized to your organization to limit access to various pages, data or sections within Parallax. The permission settings and names are editable, however there are 5 default permission levels, covering 24 total permissions:

  • Admin - Can see and and edit everything in Parallax.
  • Trusted - Can see and edit everything in Parallax, except for Settings.
  • Owner - Can see and edit everything in Parallax, except for Settings and Insights
  • Contributor - Can edit project details, but can see everything except Settings and Insights
  • Employee - Can not edit projects, but can see everything except Settings and Insights

Where do I find Permissions?

Permissions can be found under Settings > Permissions:

1. There are four different things you can do on the Settings > Permissions page:

1. Click  Add New Permission Button

2. Sort by Header

3. View and Edit Permission

4. Delete Permission

Managing Permissions

There are several different ways you'll want to manage permissions from the Settings > Permissions page - including, adding new permissions levels, deleting a permission level, editing

To add new permission level:

  1. Click on Settings
  2. Click on Permissions
  3. Click Add New (Green Button)
  4. Enter name of permission level
  5. Click Save

Delete a Permission:

  1. Click on Settings
  2. Click on Permissions
  3. Click on the three vertical dots next to the permission level
  4. Click Delete
  5. If any users are assigned the deleted permission, you'll also need to select a new permission level to reassigned those users. 
  6. Click Submit

Edit an existing permission:

  1. Click on Settings
  2. Click on Permissions
  3. Click on the Role you would like to change the permissions on
  4. Click on the permission check boxes you would like to add or remove
  5. Click Save

Add a Permission: 

Click Add New

Name the New Permission and click Save

Next, select the options you wish to have available to that permission for the user assigned.

Changing the Permissions level of an existing user is done through the Settings > Users page, rather than Settings > Permissions:

  1. Click on Settings
  2. Click on Users
  3. Click on the three vertical dots on the right side of the user list. 
  4. Click Edit
  5. Under Roles, choose the desired permissions

 

Note: Users are individuals who are given access to log into Parallax and have access to some or all views within Parallax.  This is separate from individuals who will only log time to a project or projects. 

 

There is no fee or cost to you to add a user to Parallax.
