Overview
Have you ever been resourcing a Project only to get bogged down scrolling through Roles, or even entire Offerings which are already completed? Have no fear, with our Completed Roles and Offerings enhancement, you can quickly and easily hide (or display) Roles or Offerings that no longer have ongoing work, in order to focus your efforts on ones that remain ongoing.
Completing Roles/Offerings
No Roles or Offerings will start out Completed in Parallax, so completing a Role/Offering is where this new functionality starts.
Whether completing a specific Role or the entire Offering, the process is simple - just hover over the desired Role or Offering to view the list of actions and select the "..." option. From the menu of additional actions, select "Complete Role" or "Complete Offering." This will effectively hide Completed Roles/Offerings, allowing you to focus on the Roles/Offerings which are still actively being shaped or recording Actuals.
Viewing Completed Roles/Offerings
Of course, sometimes you may want to see the Project as a whole, including any Roles or Offerings that have since been completed, right? At the top of the Shaper, we've added to the list of Include/Exclude options; go there to include Completed Roles, Completed Offerings or both in your view. Completed Roles that you include will start out summarized in a single row, so make sure to open it up to see each individual Completed Role!
Reactivating Completed Roles/Offerings
There may be times where a Role or Offering needs to be re-opened. Maybe there's unaccounted for work to be completed or shaped, or maybe you accidentally closed out the Role or Offering. Whatever the case, once you've included Closed Roles and/or Offerings in your view, you can hover over Role or Offering to see a green "Make Active" button - simply click that button to reactivate a given Role or Offering. There are no changes made to Allocations, the assigned Person, and Actuals continue to be updated as they are recorded, so no other changes are needed to restore a Role or Offering!
What else does this affect?
As mentioned in the last section, Closing a Role or Offering doesn't currently have meaningful implications on the structure of the Project. The Role assignments, any Actuals/Plans within the Shape and any Costs/Revenue/Margin that's associated are unaffected by completion of a Role or Offering. This means that you should expect to see no changes to the other Project Pages (Overview, Financial Settings, etc.), any Insights Reports, the Assignments View or any other places outside of the Shaper. While we may certainly expand on this in the future, in our current iteration, the purpose of Completing a Role or Offering is to remove clutter and allow you to focus on what really matters!
